Microneedling for Acne Scarring
Microneedling is a relatively new treatment in North America (although used in Europe for almost 15 years) that puts thousands of microscopic holes in the skin, to a precise and predetermined depth. These microscopic holes stimulate new collagen and elastin formation directly within the damaged dermis of acne scars. Also these holes provide a means by which important growth factors can be effectively transported to the deeper skin layers of the scar tissue stimulating collagen and elastin formation, repair of damaged collagen, strengthening the structure of the skin, with the ultimate result being smoother skin surface. Microneedling can also address pigmentation changes in the skin caused by acne.
