Stretchmark Therapy & Reduction

How do Stretch Marks Occur?

stretch-mark-therapyStretch marks, or striae, are very common. While the skin is a remarkable organ that is designed to stretch, if growth or weight gain occurs too rapidly, the skin will intrinsically weaken, a partial tear of sorts, and heal, leaving behind the scars we call stretch marks. Many women get them during pregnancy when the skin grows very quickly. Stretch marks can also occur in rapidly-growing adolescents.

Stretch marks are often red or purplish in colour when they first form, but in time they will fade to a white or silvery colour. They can be slightly indented or atrophic, lacking the support structure or integrity of normal skin.
